Thrilling fat activism/Fat Studies seminar announced - London, November 2010

Please come to this, it's going to be an amazing combination of fat activism and Fat Studies, it's open to all, and it's FREE. Places are limited, so register as soon as you can. The seminar is now fully booked.

This seminar will address the intersection between Fat Studies, Health At Every Size and fat activism. It will explore individuals' experiences of activism, sites for intervention, and the possibilities for fat activism in relation to health and beyond.

There will be a combination of presentations and workshop activities.

The following speakers are confirmed (more to be announced):

Keynote: Sondra Solovay: attorney, adjunct professor of law and fat activist, Berkeley, California.

  • Kay Hyatt, Big Bum Jumble, London
  • Dr Samantha Murray, Macquarie University
  • Kim Singleton, University of Liverpool
  • Caroline Walters, University of Exeter
  • Dr Rachel White, University of Westminster

The seminar will run from 1pm-6pm on Thursday 18 November and 9am-3pm on Friday 19 November.

The seminar is free to attend, including tea/coffee on Thursday 18 November and lunch on Friday 19 November, but participants must meet their own accommodation and transport costs.

There will be an optional dinner on Thursday 18 November, for which costs are not covered. Please indicate whether you wish to attend this on the registration form.

There are a limited number of bursaries available to help with travel and accommodation costs for students and unwaged participants. To request a bursary, please complete the relevant section on the registration form. This information will be treated confidentially.
